Add the services you offer

A service is one thing you sell: an initial assessment, a follow-up session, a report. Each one carries a price and a duration, and almost everything else in Soap Notes reads from that. Bookings take their length from a service, invoices take their line items from one, and event types put one in front of clients to book. Getting the list right early saves retyping the same numbers into every session and every bill.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Open Offerings, then Services

Offerings is in the main sidebar, between Automations and Finance.

  2. 2

    Add a service

Give it a name a client would recognise on an invoice, a duration in minutes, and a price. The duration is what the calendar blocks out when the service is booked.

  3. 3

    Assign who delivers it

On a multi-practitioner account, pick which people offer this service. It controls whose availability is checked when a client books it.

  4. 4

Repeat for everything you charge for

Including the things you do not book a room for, like report writing, if you invoice for them. An invoice line item has to come from somewhere.

Changing a price later

Editing a service changes what future bookings and invoices use. Invoices already issued keep the price they were issued at, which is what you want when a client queries an old bill.

Questions

What is the difference between a service and a package?
A service is one session. A package is a block of them bought up front, drawn down as the client attends. Packages need the Standard plan; services are on every plan.
