Let a notetaker draft your notes

Open in Soap NotesSettings › IntegrationsStandard plan and above

For sessions you run online, connecting a notetaker changes what writing up looks like: the recording produces a summary, action items and searchable transcript, and you edit that into the note instead of starting from nothing. Fathom is the fullest integration, with the summary and excerpts insertable straight into a session note.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Open Settings, then Integrations

Find the Fathom card and choose Connect, then approve the access in Fathom.

  2. 2

Run an online session as normal

Fathom records and processes the meeting on its side. Soap Notes matches the recording to the booking it belongs to.

  3. 3

Open the session note and use the Recording panel

From there you can read the transcript, and insert the summary, the action items or individual excerpts into the note itself.

When a recording does not match automatically

Matching is done on the meeting details, which occasionally miss. Any recording that did not attach itself can be linked to the right booking by hand from the same panel, so nothing is lost when the automatic match fails.

What about Zoom

Zoom is built but not yet switched on for production accounts, so there is no Connect button for it today. Google Meet and Fathom are the two available now. If you already connected Zoom while it was open, your connection keeps working.

Questions

Does the summary go into the note automatically?
No. It is inserted when you choose to insert it, and you edit it like any other text. A clinical note that wrote itself without a clinician reading it would not be a clinical note.
