Soap Notes + Google Meet

Auto-import Google Meet transcripts into your session notes.

Stop manually copying meeting transcripts. With Google Meet connected, every session you run on Meet is transcribed by Google and the transcript imports into Soap Notes the moment the call ends. The transcript attaches to the right client and session record automatically, searchable, exportable, and ready for you to draft a SOAP note from.

What this integration does

  • Transcripts auto-import after every Google Meet session
  • Attached to the right client + session record automatically
  • Full-text search across every transcript
  • Use the transcript as the starting draft for your SOAP note
  • Export transcripts to PDF or plain text on demand

How to connect Google Meet

3 steps. Around two minutes.

  1. 1

    Connect your Google account

Settings → Integrations → Google Meet → Connect. Approve transcript read access.

  2. 2

Enable Meet transcripts in Google Workspace

Transcripts require a Google Workspace plan that supports recording (Business Standard or higher). Turn on transcript generation in Meet settings.

  3. 3

Run a session, transcript imports automatically

End any Meet call. Within a few minutes, the transcript appears in the matching session inside Soap Notes.

What you are approving

These are the exact permissions the consent screen asks for, and what each one is for.

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/meetings.space.readonly
Reads the conference record for a call, which is how Soap Notes knows a meeting happened and which booking it belongs to. Read-only: we cannot start, join or change your meetings.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/documents.readonly
Meet's notetaker writes its notes and transcript into a Google Doc. Read-only access to Docs is what lets us pull that content across. We cannot edit or create documents with this scope.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly
Matches a finished call to the session it belongs to, since the link between the two lives on the calendar event.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events
Creates and updates the Meet link on session events booked through Soap Notes.

Where it stops

  • The transcript depends on Google's notetaker running. If it was off for a call, or the call was not recorded, there is nothing to import and we cannot reconstruct it.
  • Meet transcription availability depends on your Google Workspace plan rather than on your Soap Notes plan.
  • Import happens once the notes Doc exists, which is after the call ends rather than live during it.

If you disconnect it

Transcripts already imported stay in Soap Notes and remain editable, because at that point they are part of the session note rather than a link to Google. New calls stop importing, and Meet links stop being generated for new sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, Google Meet transcripts are a Workspace-only feature (Business Standard and higher). The integration won't generate transcripts for personal Gmail accounts.

No. Transcripts stay private to you inside Soap Notes by default. You can share specific transcripts via the client portal if you choose.

Yes. Transcripts are fully editable in Soap Notes. Original transcript is preserved as a downloadable copy.

From Google, not from us. Meet's own notetaker writes the notes and transcript into a Google Doc in your Drive, and Soap Notes reads that Doc and attaches it to the matching session. Nothing is sent to a separate transcription service, and if Google did not record a given call there is nothing for us to import.
