Soap Notes + Stripe
Process invoices and payments through Stripe.
Stripe is Soap Notes' default payment processor. Generate invoices, take card and ACH payments, set up recurring subscriptions for ongoing coaching packages, and handle refunds, without ever leaving Soap Notes. Stripe handles the money, Soap Notes handles the client relationship. Payouts land in your bank on Stripe's standard schedule.
What this integration does
- Send Stripe-powered invoices directly from a session or client
- Accept card and ACH payments, no Stripe dashboard needed
- Recurring subscriptions for monthly retainers and packages
- Payment status syncs to the matching client + session record
- Issue refunds from inside Soap Notes
How to connect Stripe
3 steps. Around two minutes.
- 1
Connect your Stripe account
Settings → Integrations → Stripe → Connect. Sign in to Stripe and approve via OAuth, no API keys to manage.
- 2
Set default payment methods
Choose which payment methods to accept (cards, ACH, Apple Pay) and which currency. These defaults apply to all new invoices.
- 3
Send your first invoice
Open any client → Billing → New invoice. Pick a session or package, send via Stripe, and track payment status in Soap Notes.
What you are approving
These are the exact permissions the consent screen asks for, and what each one is for.
- Stripe Connect, read_write
- Soap Notes connects through Stripe Connect rather than asking for an API key, which means the connection is to your own Stripe account and you revoke it from Stripe's dashboard rather than ours. read_write is the standard Connect scope and is what lets us create invoices and payment links against your account. It is a broad permission, and the honest way to think about it is that Soap Notes can do what you could do in your own Stripe dashboard.
Where it stops
- —Payouts, fees and disputes are Stripe's, not ours. Soap Notes does not add a fee, and it also cannot change what Stripe charges you or intervene in a chargeback.
- —Currency and payment methods follow your Stripe account settings rather than anything configured here.
- —A refund issued in the Stripe dashboard is not automatically reflected on the Soap Notes invoice.
If you disconnect it
Money already taken is unaffected and stays in your Stripe account, because it was never in ours. Invoices already paid keep their record in Soap Notes. What stops is creating new payment links and marking invoices paid automatically, so an unpaid invoice will need reconciling by hand until you reconnect.
